The PitchGround Code System
At PitchGround, we sell coupon codes that the buyer will redeem when they are registering to use your product. If you've ever purchased something from Groupon, then you are familiar with the process. If you have no idea what we meant by this, don't worry, we're about to explain it to you in detail. 😄 This is the buyer's journey:
- We market and find leads.
- Leads go directly to PitchGround.com and when they buy, they get a coupon code redeemable at your end (when they register for your product).
- They will get instructions in our panel on how to redeem the code from you.
- The buyer will go directly to your website and sign up for an account using the code they purchased from PitchGround.
- The buyer will now have a registered account with the plan associated with the code.
What does PitchGround need from you? If you are launching a Featured Deal, we need you to generate those coupon codes. Then you will provide the coupon codes no later than 14 days prior to your launch date. Our team will be in touch with you at all times and they will ask for the codes way in advance so we're all ready. The codes must be redeemable at your SaaS for the plans we have agreed to. We add this pool of codes (we will let you know how many during onboarding) into our system and then you will be able to see inside of our vendor panel which codes have been sold, which have been refunded. For any refunded codes, you will need to cancel (or downgrade) the user's account on your end according to your cancellation policies.
Some examples of coupon code creation: A common naming convention is using the plan name, followed by a string of characters. For example, "Startup Plan" or "Plan Number" or "LTD #" + 10 random characters split in 4 blocks, would look like this: STARTUP-T3aBk-7x4DY-7xeCs PLAN1-T3aBk-7x4DY-7xeCs LTD1-T3aBk-7x4DY-7xeCs etc Here are the guidelines you must adhere to when generating codes:
Include Numbers: ( e.g. 123456 ) Include Lowercase Characters: ( e.g. abcdefgh ) Include Uppercase Characters: ( e.g. ABCDEFGH ) Exclude Similar Characters: ( e.g. i, l, 1, L, o, 0, O ) Exclude Ambiguous Characters: ( { } [ ] ( ) / \ ' " ` ~ , ; : . < > ) Exclude any special characters, other than "dash": - Must be at least 10 characters long Can be as long as 30 characters
We recommend you generate codes that are at least 10 characters long, which should be enough randomness to keep someone from guessing them. The minimum number of characters is 10 and the maximum is 20. Keep this in mind when uploading the codes! Now that we've covered all the basics, let's move on to what you should do during the launch. If you feel that we missed anything or you have any other feedback on this page, feel free to let us know. If you are launching a Featured Deal, you can now explore what to do During Launch. If you are launching a Marketplace Deal, the next step is to prepare your Marketplace listing.
